Artists
Considered one of North America's top ethno-ambient artists, known for his diverse explorations into organic-electronic-ambient composition, producer/composer/keyboardist Adham Shaikh has been producing his nature inspired signature sound for fifteen years. He's recently released several new tracks on Sunset Magnetic North (Waveform US) and Mana Medicine (Dragonfly UK) compilations, sabahdi on Floatation (Interchill), and started new project entitled DubSonic with ex-members of Yabby You & Dub Central. Recording and releasing a lengthy discography of original works since the early nineties, Shaikh has contributed to countless Interchill and Instinct Ambient compilations, fronted his own four member performance project EKKO - Centripetal (Interchill 98), released three full length albums (Realignment, Journey to the Sun and Drift), two EP's, and a double CD & triple vinyl set of remixes by artists such as Neotropic, Zion Train, Neil Sparkes (ex-Transglobal Underground), and Legion of Green Men, among others. Born in the UK with influences from east to west, now residing in western Canada, Shaikh continues to create live soundscape environments at renowned events and festivals world-wide, earning a reverent following ~ and now, joined by Freeworm and guests, comes to MEG (Montreal Electronic Groove Festival) on October 26th 2001, to cast his magical spell.

Known for his blistering sonic tapestry, on stage in real-time, without tapes or sequencers, his amazing memory and split second timing has earned him live coverage on London’s BBC network, working on a recording with Sinead O'Connor and ColdCut for the Warchild project. In the past year alone, she was invited to open for Amon Tobin as part of the Montreal Int'l Jazz Festival, for Howie B as part of the Festival Int'l de Nouvelle Danse, her second annual performance at the Festival Int'l Nouveau Cinéma Nouveaux Média featuring Ritchie Hawtin, and Arrival III featuring artists like Slip, Felix DaHousecat, Dave Clarke and Stacey Pullen. Invited to speak at the Rencontres de L'Adisq conference as part of the electronic music panel, between entertaining at countless festivals and raves, the ever-industrious Maüs even managed to squeeze in a European mini-tour in May 1999, playing in both France and Germany ...
